Once you see that screen with all the folders, you make a new folder on your decktop called Halo 2.  In that folder I want you to make another one called Apps and another called Backup and another called Modded and another named Tools.  In the modded folder I want you to make a folder called Finished maps and another called In process.  This just saves you time in the long run and it keeps your stuff in order.

NOTE:never modd/delete your backup folder, if you do...your screwed

Remember that application pack that you downloaded, you should have saved it onto the desktop.  Drag that pack into the Apps folder.

Now most computers cant read these files, well they cant read them without a special program called winzip
WINace-

Install that into the apps folder too.

Once you have that installed, go back to Smart FTP and click the E folder, then hit the TDATA, then hit the folder that says 4d530064, then $c.  If you got all the new maps then you should see 3 folders there:
4d53006400000001
4d53006400000002
4d53006400000003

the first one is warlock and containment
the second is turf and sancuary
the third is backwash, relec, terminal, elongation, and gemini

once you have seen all these maps, go back to each and everyone of them and right click it (only click the ones that end in .map) and hit download, direct, select folder.  From there find your backup folder, and download them all to that, yes each and every one of them.

once you have all the maps in the backup folder then you highlight all the maps and hold Ctrl (on the bottom left on the keyboard) and compy them all to the decktop.  From there, highlight them all again on the desktop and drag them into the In process folder.

Halfway done
